Suguru Getou is one of the most important characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. When he first appeared in the series, he was a teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High and a close friend of Satoru Gojo. However, as the series progressed, the sorcerer switched sides and he became one of the main antagonists of the series.
As fans know, Getou’s body was taken over by the cursed spirit in the form of a brain known as Kenjaku. But what happened to the real Getou in Jujutsu Kaisen?
While it was initially believed that Getou had died, it was later revealed that he was still alive, albeit in a different form. In the Hidden Inventory arc, it was revealed that Getou had turned into a curse user and was being controlled by Kenjaku to eliminate all humans who were not jujutsu sorcerers.

Getou Suguru’s Background
Academy Years
Getou attended Jujutsu High School and was a student of Masamichi Yaga, the current principal of the school. During his time at the academy, Getou was known for his intelligence and was considered to be a prodigy. He was also a member of the Kyoto Goodwill Event team and fought against the Tokyo team.
After graduating from the academy, Getou became a sorcerer and worked alongside Gojo Satoru. However, after a series of events which began with him failing to protect Amanai, Getou turned to the dark side and began a movement to rid the world of all humans unable to use cursed energy. And he nearly succeeded.
The Fight
During the events of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (the movie), Getou battled and was defeated by Yuta Okkotsu. But it was Gojou Satoru who finished him off.
However, instead of taking in his remains to Jujutsu High for proper disposal, Gojou left his body unattended, allowing a mysterious brain to hijack Getou’s body and all its abilities.
Body Possession Incident
The Body Possession Incident refers to the event where Suguru Getou’s body was possessed by a mysterious brain. This incident occurred during the Hidden Inventory arc of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series.
The Aftermath
The brain that possessed Getou’s body belonged to an ancient sorcerer named Kenjaku, who had been planning to use Getou’s body to carry out his own agenda. Kenjaku’s plan involved creating a new world order where cursed spirits would reign supreme.
After possessing Getou’s body, Kenjaku went on to carry out his plan, which culminated in the Shibuya Incident. This incident involved a massive battle between the Jujutsu Sorcerers and Kenjaku’s followers, who had taken over Shibuya.
In conclusion, Getou Suguru is no more. The man with sutures on his forehead who dons the attire of a Buddhist monk is a far cry from the Getou who fought along Gojou.
He has been implanted with the brain of an ancient sorcerer named Kenjaku, who acquired Getou’s body after Gojo killed him. This makes it appear like Getou is still alive, but in reality, he is just a vessel being controlled by Kenjaku. His goal? To eliminate all humans who are not jujutsu sorcerers, whom he calls “monkeys.”
